Sir George Kneipp Chambers established over 30 years ago is located on Wills Street opposite the Townsville Supreme, District and Magistrates Court Building and is only a short distance from the Commonwealth Law Courts. Members of Chambers practise in a wide range of jurisdictions and areas of law, with special expertise in Family, Criminal and Commercial law.

Sir George Kneipp Chambers was named in honour of Sir Joseph Patrick George Kneipp KBE, who practiced as a Barrister in North Queensland from 1950 to 1969. Sir George Kneipp was appointed to the Supreme Court of Queensland as the Northern Judge in Townsville in 1969 and retired from his judicial role in 1992.

He was also Chancellor of James Cook University, North Queensland from 1974 to 1993, where he called for the establishment of a law degree course in the late 1980s. He was appointed a Knight Bachelor in 1982 for services to law and education.  James Cook University awarded him an honorary Doctor of Letters in 1993, the year in which he died.
